Traeger Recipe for pork loin says "set grill temp to 180 and preheat with lid closed for 15 minutes.
Place pork loin on grate and smoke for 3-4 hours.
Since I have both settings on my dial (180 and smoke setting) I'm confused!!
A) Preheat to 180 and then turn the knob on "Smoke" setting?
B) Preheat to 180 and leave the temp at 180 and let it smoke?
Any help appreciated and thank you!

I do believe the SMOKE setting let's the temp fluctuate from 165 to 200+ the smoldering pellets create more smoke, and a smoky taste. the 180 is the cooking temp for a slow cook. Yes you are going to see smoke, but not as intense as the SMOKE setting.
