Timberline 1300
I currently own a 1300 Timberline (old version) I've been using smoke tubes to cold smoke and hot smoke for extra smoke, but haven't been a fan. Been looking a different models of smoke generators that are on the market. Been looking at the Smokai model more than others. Has anyone purchased this model or others before? And if so, where was the best place to mount it? I was thinking of mounting it opposite of the hopper box where the side tray is located.

I own a Smokin'it generator, I like using smoke tubes for normal length cooks tho.
The generator I think comes in real handy with cold smoking and large cooks where all the space is used up with food, it works great for that.

Look at the Big Kahuna smoke generator. Can be used cold or hot. It will give you plenty of smoke. I own one on an old refrigerator that I converted to a cold-smoke only unit. With the magnetic seals it makes the perfect & inexpensive unit. With the refrigerator you can cook much larger batches when the cooler weather is around. (I cold-smoke in late fall to early spring in Pacific NW.
GOOD LUCK!
