Pellet hopper space

Does anyone know what this little space above the D2 controller in the pellet hopper is for?

It’s not like you’d need to store a lighter there and it’s inconvenient to store a bottle opener there when it can hang on the hooks to the side.

Thoughts?

I keep a bottle opener, couple probes and alcohol wipes to clean probes in mine. I don't think it has a specific purpose but for organization of small items.

Perfect place for the meat probe or any other small utensils you may need handy at the grill

Officially it is the meat probe storage spot, but all good ideas. Can see it listed on comparison chart (Pro doesn’t have that spot, just IW & TL):

This chart also reminds me: how the heck do you lower the shelf on the Silverton? The manual says you can but I can’t figure it out for the life of me.
