I’m new to the traeger, my question is does the grill smoke all the time during the cooking process. Mine has the smoke function but I don’t wanna cook on smoke all the time.

Smoke really only applies at low temps. Higher temps for grilling do not provide any more smoke than other grills during cooking.

Rule of thumb for cooking meats is Low-N-Slow for fatty meats with lots of connective tissue like ribs, pork butts & briskets.

Hot & fast for lean cuts of meat like Pork Loins, Pork Tenderloins, Steaks, & Beef Burgers.

Welcome to the forum @Cferguson - I believe it's 250 degrees and below you get smoke. Anything higher and you just get a hint of it.
