Welcome to the forum Daniel. How old is the grill? Have you done a good cleaning to make sure nothing is in there? If the auger motor is bad, this video might be helpful:

About 4 year auger is clean and free remove and cleaned last month and I have used it 3 times after that

When it stops, will it start back up then shut down again?

If you shut it off and turn it back on it will start again for anther second, does not make any funny noise.

no funny noise, shut it off and back on and it will run for a few seconds and shut down again.

If you unplug the auger motor will the grill stay on?

have not tried that, if it ever stop raining here I will try that. If it stays on will that mean a bad motor?

Yes. But if it still turns off, plug the motor back in and unplug the hot rod and see what happens.

Before I started to open up motor compartment I tried to start it again and it works again. Is there a overload on the this unit?
