I've had my Ironwood 885 for almost a year now and never had an issue with the WiFi till just recently. I am getting disconnect messages like crazy now, several times in a simple cook. The app shows poor signal strength and when I look at the WiFire panel, it shows a rapidly changing signal strength which ranges from -60dBm to -79dBm.

This is not an issue of WiFi signal. My iPhone shows a very strong signal and you can see a speed test done with the iPhone placed right next to the WiFire LCD panel.

Any ideas as to the problem? Could it be the firmware or is the Ironwood WiFi NIC shot?

Don't think there is much known about 02.01.03 yet. It hasn't even been officially marked as released on Traeger's site yet. Did you notice that these issues started after your grill updated?

Ive in the exact same situation with my IW885. Never an issue, but now im getting the same disconnected warning a few times per cook. However I open the app and its showing the grill is connected so im gonna disregard this for the time being as its still working for remote purposes, just cant trust notifications will make it through. Im assuming there will be another update in the near future to correct this issue and generate another one :D

Why would my Traeger have an yet to be released firmware? Hmmm. I will have to contact support.

Their website still has 02.01.01 listed as the current release. 02.01.02 was also released back in May but it was rolled back. Somehow you got the update that people were expecting in July. But no details about it have really been released yet. Please let us know what support says.

I don't think it's your firmware causing that. My Ironwood 650 recently started to do that as well. I would get a notification that the connection to the grill was lost, but opening the app showed it functioning normally and the connection was still present.
That just started in the last week or so for me

The notifications appearing in the App are more than likely Traeger Cloud back-end related ... it sounds like they've recently made some changes to the code running in AWS and it is reporting false positives, or needs tweaking of some kind ...

Since they added an Outsource Vendor to assist with the influx of Customer Service calls, it appears that both service@ + info@ are both returning the AUTOMATED RESPONSE and you have to call in to speak with someone ... there is another email address [email protected] that is posted for people to use to contact them when they leave a negative review of a product via their website ...

I spent 30 minutes on the phone with them only for them to tell me to clear my cache on the Safari browser on my iPhone. WTF? I don't even use my Safari browser on my iPhone, but why would it have anything to do with the Traeger WiFire app? Anyway, it's raining thundering, so my Ironwood 885 is unplugged till tomorrow evening before I try it to see if that crazy fix actually works.

Yeah ... that qualifies as "grasping at straws" on their part ...

Well, I finally fired up the Ironwood 885 to do some steaks today and what do you know. Within seconds of igniting it, I get this message.

So much for clearing the Safari browser data and history like Traeger Support recommended. There's 30 minutes on the phone I will never get back. Pretty sad support for a high end grill.
