Sunday I turned my Timberline 1300 (D2) on to start cooking a pork shoulder. The display had a message about an update being in progress and lat me know that the grill would reset when the update was complete. Within about 2 minutes the update completed and the display turned itself off then on. Then I tried to cook the pork at 225. The grill kept going up to over 400! I opened the door to lower the temp. As soon as I closed it the temp shot up to over 400 again. Eventually I fired up another Traeger and moved the meat to it. The Timberline continued act like the controller was set for 400. The display, and the app, showed 225 as my selected temp.
Has anyone else had this issue? I haven't seen other complaints. I am wondering if my problem is unique or new and more widespread.

I wonder if during the update the auger moved or something caused the pellets to over feed? Like doing 2 start ups.... Have you pulled up the heat diffuser and looked in the pot? Id try a start up again with everything out so you can see what is happening. Let us know what you find! That is an odd issue.

I did look in the fire pot. In fact at one point I let it cool completely, removed the grates, heat diffuser, etc. and started the grill while I watched. It started with just a few unburned pellets in the pot. Once the fire was really going I replaced the heat shield, grease tray and grates. It still acted like temp was set to 400 or more.

Sounds like a controller. Temp sensor seems to be working, its showing the temperature as it climbs... my money is on a controller. Call up Traeger and see what they say! Unit still has warranty, use it!

I had an issue where the temperature varied up and down from 155 to 265. It was set at 190 and super smoke. I was using a timberline 850. See the temp chart attached. I also believe my issue is the controller but Traeger has been dragging their feet on my issue. Still unresolved.
