Grill
pro 22 . looking to upgrade to an ironwood 885
Hi Im Ronn
Owned a Traeger for about 2 yrs now. Its a Home Depot "eastwood" pro 22. Impulse buy on Laborday a while back and Ive been using it year round since. I dig this grill, but also so badly want to move up to an Ironwood 885. I just finished a #traegershop class yesterday and the store if offering 10% discount on new grill purchases. so its basically saving on taxes. but they can deliver and set up as well, good till this Saturday for class participants.. So Im wondering if I should buy now or wait for the "Thanksgiving Traeger Sale" also cool to be here. thank all.

Sounds like a good deal to me. Id go for it.

Thanks for the reply. I've just seen a lot of post with people not happy with their ironwoods, wondering if it's a build issue, firmware or anomaly and the squeaky wheels are voicing their issues. Or if it's a small group of unlucky few... just hesitant to jump is all.

I have had my ironwood 650 since April 1st of this year. I really like it but had a few issues. They have replaced my controller due to a messed up screen, a new induction fan as it started to squeal and a new lid which was worse than the original lid. Once they sent out the firmware my temp control issues were resolved as well. As far a s my lid goes I sealed it the best I could with a gasket kit I had left over from my Weber's and it's not perfect but good enough. If your in a warm climate and want to use it for smoking it is great. I need a second smoker and going with a Yoder ys640s as it will be my main smoker/grill for the winter months up here in Canada. I have a welding blanket and a fire retardant wool blanket inside of it. I haven't used it yet but I will report back once I do when the temps drop. Overall I'm happy with the Ironwood.

oh. you didn't really express that. I thought it was just a cost decision...

Ahh gotcha.. yeah I went back and re-read it. Thank you for pointing that out. yep my main concern performace for the price. Like I said I really enjoy my Traeger and its time for an upgrade. I was also all set to buy a Ranger. but they werent available at the store. and I didnt see them online. so now I gotta wait for that one. Man and I was getting all set for my Tailgating excursion for when the Steelers come to AZ!!

I'm happy with my Ironwood 650. It's produced some really awesome meals! Welcome to the forum.

Ok I made the leap. Bought an ironwood885 Currently cooking a spatchcock turkey on it. I'm using super smoke. And I'm not seeing any excess smoke or super things happening ... but I'll be patient... been pulsing for an hour I'm told that's normal.. :) ::chuckles nervously::
