Tailgate grill
New to Traeger, have tried to cook two times on my tailgate and each time have burn thre food. The grill seems to have a mind of its own, just tried jerky at 180 for 6 hours, went to check at 4 1/2 hours grill was at 320 and jerky is burnt, what I’m Doing wrong?

How long have you had the grill? On the surface it sounds like an RTD and/or controller. How long did you watch the grill for? What else have you cooked beside jerky? The North American warranty is 3 years so call Traeger service and order the parts. It's generally not a good idea to set and forget a new grill for so long. A bit more info would help.

Got the grill last Wednesday. I have cooked scallops, rids, brats, I did not leave the grill during the first four hour cooking the jerky but when I check at 4 1/2 hours the grill was above 300 and jerky burnt. The grill will go from 160 to 350 on its own, it will not hold any temperature setting. Thanks for your help

I'd call Treager customer service and tell who ever answers what happened and ask for a controller and RTD. I believe they come together in a kit.

I had a Junior which is basically the same as the tailgater and it was a great little grill. Traeger are very good with their parts warranty.
