Hi all,

Just got my Pro 575 last week and did my first pork butt which came out great. I am a novice but really enjoyed the first cook.

I am wondering if anyone has done beer can chicken on the 575? Is the grill tall enough to handle the chicken if I take out the top grates? Any great ideas for rub/seasoning?

appreciate the advice.

Eric

I do BCC on my 1300 so I can not comment on the size issues on your 575, however all being equal I use a Apple Juice / Mustard/ Worcestershire sauce base and the Traeger Chicken Rub for 12 hrs then add Holy Gospel and let it go.. Beer can chicken Though I use a Traeger chicken throne instead of a beer can, my other half did not like the can but the throne works quite well...
seems to be a big hit.....

I used to do beer can chickens in a 22 series, so the 575 should be fine if you take the top rack out. I've had good luck with the Beer Can Chicken Rub from Cabelas/Bass Pro.

YES very tall enough but we have a thread on here about the proper way to do BCC and the big suggestion it to HEAT UP (if not boil) the beer or liquid that you use first... a Traeger does not give the beer can enough direct HEAT to serve the purpose by the time the chick is done...

WELCOME BTW... (to the 575 club)
