Ash on food

If your pellets are dusty (Traeger pellets seem to be among the worst, so I do not use them) you can always screen them before placing them in the hopper. I use Lumberjack and Bear Mountain pellets (both made by the same company) and do not bother sifting them as the dust is manageable.
Yes. Bear Mountain is what we use, low ash and 10 bucks a 20# bag (ChefStore). Never had a problem with ash on food, use 575pro with smoke tube most of the time.

I agree that the Traeger pellets generate a ton of ash. I've been using the Costco pellets for a few seasons with good results.

I used some Treagar pellets when it I got my first pellet burner, used them maybe 3 times and gave a full bag and partial bag to a friend with a warning.About a week later I had enough recommendations for Lumberjack I bought a variety pack and have never looked back.
