OK, I just did my first cook since the updated Treager app v.3.0.0 was released.

Disclaimer: The opinions expressed below are my own, and may not be representative of other Traeger users.

WTF!?!?! The new app interface looks like something that people who got stickers in grade school would use!

Pros:
I can finally delete a previously looked up recipe that shows up at the top of the grill screen for some reason.

Cons:
The color changing background. Why would Traeger do something so stupid and childish unless it's to appeal to a 12 year old? Pretty sure they can't afford an $800+ grill though.
The percentage of current temp compared to set temp. What use is that? We only care if the current temp is at the set temp, and a lot of people have problems with accuracy.
The "Set to" temp could have been a lot larger than it is. There's plenty of room to make it bigger.
The probe "Goal" is also too small.
The same goes for the percent of pellets remaining.
"Keep Warm" and "Shut Down" should be placed on the screen below the Pellets level.

I didn't check to see if "Shut Down" actually worked. I've never gotten it to work in prior versions though, so I would expect the same results in this version as well. If it works now, please let me know.

Traeger, did you do any usability testing of the new app before you so haphazardly released it? It's doubtful since it's a lot less useful than the previous version was. Did anyone there ever think to ask the thousands of people who already own a Traeger grill what they would like to see? Most likely not. I didn't get a survey for it. Did anyone else??

And Traeger (if you're listening), while you're at it, could you do something to keep the stupid grease bucket from always falling off!?!?! Have you seen how many people complain about that happening whenever they take the grill cover off or put it on? I personally have gotten pretty good about not dropping it after I soaked the inside and outside of my grill cover and the garage floor once before when it fell off, although it fell off again earlier today, but fortunately was empty this time. I reset the "Days Without a Grease Bucket Drop" counter back to zero. LOL!

It’s brutal. Are the “community notes” still listed in the recipes? I’m new to the grill and appreciated peoples feedback on recipes but I couldn’t find that feature with the upgrade.

They have Reviews now including comments, but no real community notes. The format of the recipe page has totally changed now. Not for sure that's it's really any better or worse though... just a different format for the most part. The old one seemed a bit nicer to me, but this one is easy enough to get used to.

The only things I use the app for are SuperSmoke and adjusting the temperature (based on what my FireBoard tells me). I haven't used the new app yet as any cooks that I've done haven't needed any adjustments. Sounds like I might not like the new interface.

I use a large olive jar from Costco or Sam's club. Good thing I love olives. Anyway, put the jar in the bucket and it will collect all the grease till full, then put the lid on and put another jar in its place. This works for both my IW885 and Century 22, both of which are covered with no issues. I think the weight of the jar helps keep it in place when I remove the covers.

I just take the grease bucket off the hook and set it inside the grill after shutdown. Pretty easy solution!

I do this same thing, since day 1

Fortunately for me, I've used an instant read thermometer and found that what my Traeger says is the current temp (from 165° to 450°) is within 5° - 10°, so no extra accessories are necessary. The probe actually reads even more accurate than that, but I still use a ThermaPen to confirm it every time. From what I've heard on this forum, I've apparently gotten really lucky.

It still doesn’t provide an audible alarm when the meat probe comes to the set temperature!

Really? The old app used to, as well as the grill itself. I haven't used the probe since the update, so didn't have a clue they'd change that too. Thanks for letting us know!!!

Anyone have to re add your grill after update? Shows my grill but as non wi-fire.

I had to re-name mine, it looked like it wasn't showing my grill but it was, just didn't have my old name on it.
After re-naming it worked fine.
