I‘m fixing to cook up some chili with some of my leftover brisket I smoked last weekend. I have a couple I vacuumed sealed and in the freezer. I’m going to use Matt Pittmans MC recipe on his site using the chili seasoning from MC. Has anyone attempted this recipe yet? If so did you use any beans in it? I prefer no beans in my chili. The wife prefers beans. But she can deal with beanless chili. How much beans did you use? If I do use beans I’m thinking 1 can is enough? ingredients will be cut in half. Don’t need that much chili leftovers. I’m also planning to use the crock pot on low heat. Any idea on how long it’ll take on low heat? Thx.

I have made it. But opted for no beans. Main reason was because my intent was to freeze it in potions for chili-dogs and chili-burgers. I can't remember how long it took from start to finish. I don't think it had to simmer too long once all the ingredients were in the pot. Everything was already cooked. Adding beans you may have to cook an little while to get them cooked
If you planned on using beans, one large can would suffice for the amount one batch makes. Split the batch in two,.and a small can would do. That way you have half both ways.
I was happy with the results from the Meat Church mix and the recipe

I make a soup in the crockpot that does have beans and two hours on high seems to work well for me. On low? Not certain.

no experience with this exact recipe, sorry

Mmm…leftovers for dogs. Chili dogs sounds good. I’ll probably skip the beans then. I‘m only making half the recipe calls for. From the video it looks like a ton of chili for leftovers. And he has his simmering on a T grill at 225 I think. 6-8 hours. If I put it in the crock pot on low it should finish by morning. Or I’ll have to start this this afternoon for a late evening finish.

Okay, I did my chili yesterday. I thought it came out good. I’ve had better, homemade and at restaurant. It was different. Texas style? Which I never had before. At least I don’t remember having Texas style. It was a lot of meat. I used half the recipe. So 1 lb of A wayg, half lb of hot breakfast sausage and appr a 1lb of leftover brisket from last weekends session. Let it low cook for 8hrs. I tried it at 6hrs. 8 was the ideal time. Chili dogs on the menu today. Maybe tomorrow too. Week 1 for NFL.
