Brand new to this whole treager bit. I gotta say not impressed in the least bit. I actually feel like I should have simply took my money and shredded it. Follow recipes and meat comes out as if I did in an oven or my little Weber spirit grill. Shoot 1k for a grill and the a brother couldn’t even get a super smoker setting if even to pacify the newest of new to the experience. Please please please do not tell me to go spend more money on some tube contraption. The simple truth is one shouldn’t have to. The truth is that there should be some way to know that smoking is occurring. Whether it is blue smoke, yellow , purple, shoot Indian smoke signals, something. It’s only my third cook so I guess at some point I will learn to choke down the feeling of wasting 1k on this thing. Not at all impressed treager. Not at all!

Nope, don't spend another dime. Put your Traeger up for sale. Because complaining about it won't fix what your issue is.
Once it's sold, sit back, do some research before you make your next purchase and maybe you'll be able to find what you are looking for.
This forum is not a sanctioned forum by Traeger. This is a forum of users that share information and resources to try and help one another. You may want to contact Traeger via one of their support lines or on their Facebook page. Provide them your feedback and dissatisfaction directly. It doesn't get to them from this forum.
Sorry you aren't pleased with your purchase, it sucks to spend money and have something that doesn't do what you thought it should. There are countless threads on this forum alone about lack of smoke. Similar posts can be found about pretty much every pellet grill. It is the nature of the pellet. Hopefully your research before making another purchase after getting rid of your Traeger will get you what you want

$20... that's all it takes to add 100% more smoke to each cook.
The "simple truth" is you bought a Traeger and not a SMOKER, That's on you.
I'm not tolerating these plunkers anymore, a $20 smoke tube purchase equals 2 tubes and tons of satisfied smoke taste.
"I just paid 36 thousand for this car, don't tell me to put a new oil filter on after only 5,000 miles, I shouldn't have to!!!!

Most of us here are satisfied with the results we get from our Traegers. However, if you look at the "What's Cooking Today" posts, you will find that many people have multiple outdoor cooking devices and use whichever one they decide is best for a specific cook. It might be the Traeger, it might be a gas grill, it might be a Big Green Egg or Kamado or Weber, it might be an offset smoker or electric smoker. It might even be a second brand of pellet grill.

There is no one single cooking appliance that is perfect for every cook. If you were led to believe that the Traeger should be that device, be wary of those who would sell you swamp land in the Louisiana bayou.

I’m sorry but the use of “tube contraption” in this post just reeks of troll to me, and somebody just looking to be upset.

Here’s the deal. It’s not the money you spent, You can spend $20,000 and a pellet grill won’t give you the flavor of a traditional smoker.

But you can spend $20 on a contraption and get more smoke.

But hey, complaining on the internet can be fun too!!

Or you can ask around and learn from others, which is what this site is all about, and there are
Lots of good people here. I’m not one of them though!! :)

PS: you need to spend more than $20 on accessories because your temp probe sucks too!!! Your dinner was probably cooked too hot or too cold, and unless you checked it with a good instant read thermometer then it was probably under cooked.

You can thank me later.

The truth is, MODs are done to almost every smoker ever made.
MODs are a part of owning something and tweaking it to work better for you.
90% of the "no smoke on my Traeger" owners I say bluntly are just too lazy or never owned anything they Modded.
Timmy turned his regular off set into a nice reverse flow. Everyone tweaks their smokers.

This is a large part of the enjoyment of this hobby: all the tweaks you can do and then discussing them with others. If it was as predictable as a microwave oven there would be nothing to talk about and the cooks would be downright boring. And smoke tubes are a simple mod compared to some of the stuff you and RemE have done.

Exactly...

My left side heat baffle is a permanent part of my 575 now, I have it in there all the time.
I'm convinced it helps spread heat around the pit and not just up the left side

You should have posted a thread yelling that you paid $1000 and Traeger has a design flaw, and tell everyone their food is crap!!

Seems like everyone paid $1000 no matter what grill they have!!

Instead you spent a little money and time and improved it to suit YOU. What fun is that!? :)

Don't get me started on microwave ovens. If my wife had her say, she would cook everything in the microwave. If I want food that tastes good and looks good, I do the cooking. Microwaves ovens are great for a few tasks, but they are not nearly as good as some folks think they are.

We even got some fried rice already prepared. The package stated that the preferred cooking method was to use the microwave. What????? I poured a little oil in a skillet, placed it on the stove, and tossed in the fried rice along with some soy sauce. I fried it the way fried rice should be prepared. It was much tastier and looked more appealing that way.
