Silverton 810
Good morning, so just picked up a new Treager silverton 810. Looks beautiful. But having a problem with temperature swings. Set the temperature to 225*F. Temp fluctuated between 170*F to 270*F at which point I had to reset the temperature down. Any ideas what to do?

Is this with the Treager temp or a FireBoar, what is the temperature out side, amount of wind?

I guess with the Treager temp, I’m pretty new to this. Outside temp was around 45*F and yes fairly windy out.

I had a 810 and had issues with the temp’s. After about 6 weeks I took it back and bought a timberline, it is double walled and then I insulated it, now rock solid temp and the tid very rarely over 100 even at 500....

Silverton has double walled enclosure around firebox, but the top is not. I was getting frustrated in -24C last weekend on my Silverton 620. Fixed with use of moving blanket folded and draped over while using. Also suggest ensuring temp sensor is clean too.way less pellets used, and temp doesn’t swing except once for very first warmup in sub -20c. Likely going to try carbonized welding pad and magnets to fit better in winter like others have done.

could be worse...my first Traeger was perfect; but it went with the sale of the house. The new one, after 4 meal attempts with no smoke and little cooking reveals; smoker says maintaining 235: actual temp 140: turn up to 325, actual temp 240...no wonder there is no smoke. The rep says the new pellets are designed to make little smoke??? so why do I want a smoker. I had to tell the second rep I own a restaurant (true) before she agreed to send me a new thermostat, which after watching her recommended You tube should NOT be my chore for a faulty product two months old. Taking mine back to Costco.
