I just got a new Silverton 610 yesterday that replaced my [18 month old] problematic Texas Elite 34 (gotta love Costco customer service).

I have some Lavalock gasket seal on the way from Amazon, but I was wondering if anyone has had any success with insulating the inside of the lid? I’ve heard about using welding or grill blankets, but I’m looking for more of an internal (/puppy prevention) solution.

to accomplish what???

A gasket is the best for smoke escape holes, a blanket is for winter insulation to try not to lose heat while cooking.

Sorry. I should have elaborated.…

I am using the Lavalock to retain the smoke as I’ve noticed the smoke comes out from all around the lid when it’s closed.

The lid insulation would be to retain as much heat as I can and help regulate heat during the colder weather. My previous Texas Elite 34 burned through pellets and lost a bunch of heat during the winter holiday meals.

I read some posts online about folks lining inside the bottom with fire bricks and whatnot, but I never got around to that. Since this new Silverton 610 has an enclosed bottom, I feel like it will retain more heat compared to the open design of the Texas styles…

Exactly

Is it safe to say that I’m on the right track?

Even though I’ve had a Traeger for 18+ months, it’s only been recently that I’ve been delving deeper into all the possibilities these things can do…

you do not wanna put bricks in your grill... seal your lid and worry about a blanket when it gets colder... plenty of blanket suggestions on this site, just search

Thank you for the suggestion. Didn’t even think of that as I just picked up a 620 myself.
