I recommend you all try Scheels pellets. They are cleaner burning and they seem to cook at a higher temperature, at least that’s been my experience. Let me know your thoughts, please.

Where do you pick them up?

I get them at Scheels Sporting store here in Montana. I am not sure if there is a store in your town.

Looks like the closest one to you is Illinois or Texas. Sorry about that. I thought they were located in most states.

IMHO - except for possibly mesquite, when it comes to flavor, there is absolutely no difference whatsoever in what you buy. I buy whatever brand name pellets are on sale. Period. Pit Boss, Bear Mountain Lumberjack, etc. They are all the same when it comes to flavor. I do prefer hardwood pellets, and Traeger are not 100% hardwood, but oil-infused. I've been smoking for years and myself, my family, and my friends, cannot notice any difference in the "flavor profile" for any pellets. Save your money. Buy whatever is on sale, and enjoy your food.

I totally agree about flavor. The pellets I recommended at 40 lbs for $19.99 which I think is a great price, but not as good as Bear Mountain's price. I have had problems reaching high temperatures with Traeger, Bear Mountain and other pellets on my IW 650. If there is a Scheels in your area try them. Not sure if Scheels are in NYC or New York for that matter! Thanks for your response.
