pellet chips

Hi, I am new to the trager grill, just got mine yesterday. I need to know if I can grill on the trager without using the wood pellets. Or do you have to use the pellets every time you cook on the trager?

The wood pellets are the fuel for the grill. The only way to use the gril without pellets is to use a smoke box inside the grill with wood chips,

Thank you. That is what I thought. Everything I read says the pellets are the fuel.
