Well newbie here. Came from the charcoal side of things. Got a 575 and smoked a 8lb top roast. Smoked to 160 then cubed and sauced and covered.

These melt in your mouth..

Taste was great and was super easy.

Quick? Anyone use charcoal flavor pellets mixed in?... this was amazing flavor maybe I just need to get used to it. But I missed my charcoal flavor?

Pit Boss makes charcoal pellets. There is a thread somewhere here about them...sounds like some people had issues running them through the auger so they put them in a smoke tube. I'll see if I can find the thread...

they are a little too hard and rock like and can cause auger damage... not worth the "charcoal" flavor... 20 years of charcoal burning myself and 18 months of a 575 and I don't miss it.

That's what I'm thinking.. but I might try the smoke tube trick one time
that would be safe enough, make sure you mix chips and other pellets in there too, the charcoal ones might not stay lit on their own. Would like to know how that works.
