I thought about posting in the Century forum but I saw that it hasn't seen any activity since 2024. Anyway I have been using a little GMG Trek for the wife and I and it's been great but it's not beg enough to do a whole brisket or 2 so I borrowed my son's Traeger for a family reunion and the briskets came out great. So today I found one like his on CL, 10 years old but in excellent condition. It does not have the newer controller with dual probes and I wanted to ask if that is a worthwhile improvement? We did it to my son's as he was having temperature control issues and Traeger sent him an upgraded dual probe controller for free. I am seeing them for sale on ebay cheap but not sure if they're genuine or copies.

I will probably use it as is for a test and maybe buy a dual probe stand alone temperature probe kit. I have a couple of Mavericks but they have been extremely disappointing to say the least, they do not hold their charge for anywhere near what they are advertised to.

Looking forward to being a member here, my collection so far is the GMG Trek, Traeger Century 22 and a Blackstone Tailgater. One thing I did notice is the GMG puts a lot more smoke into the meat compared to the Traeger, at least on my son's. Will be asking more about that later.

Oh and the Traeger is heavy, very heavy. I busted the handle off moving it:(

Cheers
