BBQ 075 and unknown model
Hey everyone as the title says I've had a Traeger in one form or another for 10ish years. I started off with a hand me down Junior that I did all kinds of stuff from pork shoulder to bacon. I upgraded when a coworker gave me his old worn out BBQ 075 original from Mount Angel that I rebuilt and have used for the last two years. As my smoking needs have changed a bit, I have been looking to find an old model that I can build into a cabinet style smoker so I can hang sausages and the like. I just came across and bought, as best I can explain, an antique Traeger. I have never seen anything like this and what leads me to believe that it is one of the very first models is the that the fire pot is rectangular.

I just got it home this weekend, the auger motor (after pulling from the auger) and fan worked as it should but the auger itself was totally locked up. Fortunately I have a hot wrench with a rosebud and was able to heat up and break up the rust and old pellets to pull the auger and clean it all out. I just slapped everything back together threw some pellets in it and it filled the auger and fed as it should. Tomorrow will be an actual trial by fire ha-ha.

All that said, I'm hoping someone may recognize this model and have some info as to age and such. I'm not trying to make a buck and flip it, I'm just really curious since I've never seen anything like it and Google has not come up with any photos or information. I am still going to turn it into a cabinet, it's just unique and I'm really curious.

Thanks,
Cory

Welcome to the site, good luck

Welcome to the forum!

That’s a pretty cool lookin old Traeger. Hope you get it up and running, looking forward to cooks you do on it!

Thanks for the welcome guys. I did get it fired up yesterday and it worked as I expected it to with the old 3 position controller. Once it leveled out after I got it started (used a wee bit too much jell) on the smoke setting it sat at roughly 180 degrees +/- with good smoke output. Medium didn't make it to 300 roughly 280 but I either use smoke or high on my other Traeger with PID so no biggie. High made it to 375 - 380. Granted I didn't have the best thermometer setup but at least it gave me a ball park. Really pretty cool old grill and I almost feel bad to make it a project but oh well. I really need a cabinet smoker and this looks like a fun project. I would really like to know what model and rough age of what this thing is. I live about a half hour from Mount Angel where my 075 was made and I assume this one as well. In my cruising of CL and FB Marketplace I've seen a bunch of funky old models but interweb searches actually reference them. I have not been able to find anything on this one. I'll post some photos of it in action when I get a chance.

I still haven't figured what model this thing is but here are a few pics of its test run on Sunday as well as the old workhorse. It will be a while before I get to the build since summer projects are waiting but I'll post photos when get to it.

I think it is a variation of a Traeger BBQ-100 from 1993. Check this post:
Cool thanks for that link. There are definitely similarities, especially the wood pieces like the handles and the lids are similarly shaped and hinged. I'd be curious if the one in that post has a round or square fire pot.
