Not concerned with pricing of the two, but want to get honest opinion on which you have and why you chose it versus the opposing one. Traeger probe is making me crazy and even after multiple calibrations it just seems to go back to be anywhere from 5-15° higher than actual temp, checked with thermopin.

Thanks in advance!

I have never used the Meater probe so I really can't comment on the two but to say that one reason I bought the Fireboard 2 is because I like the smaller probe, especially their competition series.

It just seems (to me) that the Meater probe is HUGE! I could be completely wrong, though.

Meater has a large number of reviews that are mostly positive but, some of the negatives turned me away and toward Fireboard. I'm very satisfied with my FB.

Like a #2 pencil

I haven't used the Meater probe, but I agree that some of the negative comments really turned me off "trying" this product. Nothing worse than connectivity issues. Soooo I bought a FB2. Just received it today!!

Fwiw my Meater+ works fine. It’s just that it’s one probe with Bluetooth and the InkBird is four with wifi

I’ve never used the Meater probes. I bought a FireBoard because it has 6 probes and graphing and cloud capability. Most times I run on 2 grills and can monitor both, 1 pit temp and 2 meat probes on each grill. And I like the small competition probe for chicken etc.

I have the MEATER, MEATER+, and MEATER Block for a few years. I only using them now when SWMBO is cooking a turkey in the oven, or when I am using the rotisserie on my big green egg.

The FireBoard 2 Drive and Spark have taken over the bulk of the temp reporting.

I've used both and the Fireboard is by far superior. You can use a ton of probes, solid construction, you can get a magnetic housing for it and the 3 inch comp probes are great for thinner cuts of meat or whole chickens. The Meater probe is nice for a steak or something quick, but I didn't like the thickness of it.

Guys, I have not used the Fireboard but have been using the MEATER+ and MEATER Block for several years even before I got my pellet grill. I love that I am completely wireless from the grill to my phone or iPad thru my Wifi. No wires hanging out of the grill!! The probe is a little thicker but if you’re cooking meat with some “heft” it’s not an issue.

That's the one thing I keep going back to is the lack of wires with the Meater probes. Hoping someday they make a smaller size or competition-type probe that would make putting the probes in smaller cuts less painful.

Thanks for all the responses and thoughts, now time to make my decision and pull the trigger.

When does the Fireboard‘s have sales on their meters? Between Meater & Fireboard2 I’m looking to get the Fireboard2. I currently own 2 InkBird IBBT4 meters. Had them for almost a year. Only paid $50ea. But I’ve been having a little issue with 4 of the probes. They sent me a replacement for 1 already. But I just had 3 more that’s giving me different readings. I contacted InkBird again and waiting for a reply. I’ve always had an eye on the Meater and Fireboard meters but didn’t want to fork out the big $$’s at first. So I’m thinking I might go ahead and get it sooner than later now.

I don't think I've ever seen a Fireboard sale.

Not necessarily on sale sale. I’ve seen them offer like the probes along with the FB2 pricing.
I should have been a little more clear in that I haven't seen them do what Thermoworks for example does where they'll run a sale offering 10% or 20% off a product.
