Hey,

I am still debating on sealing my lid on my traeger pro 22. I guess my question is why do some traegers come with the lid sealed with a gasket and some don’t? Seems that the top of the line units have it. I chatted with a lady from traeger and the best answer I got about putting a gasket on the lid was well it didn’t come with it so don’t do it. Really?

thanks.

I don’t think Traeger or many other companies would encourage to make a modification to their product.....but I will say others have done similar type projects. Maybe use the search feature and see what you can find

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have searched every forum about this. Have not seen any answers on why they put a gasket on some products but not others.

Works great on your 22 and my 575

The answer is the more expensive models come with a gasket because there is a BACK DOWN DRAFT exit instead of a smoke stack. It takes more air pressure to exit the smoke so the lid needs to be sealed.

You will improve your 22 with this gasket

Thank you sir! I understand this is just another gasket thread. Hoping my question was a little different. Thanks again!

You would improve your grill with this simple cheap gasket also...

And you just put it on the lid, right?

correct, like my pics show. it's ez pezy

put a double row at bottom to make sure you cover that hump when lid is shut

I had enough left over to do the hopper lid too... it helps keep it quiet and sealed

So I put the gasket on. It is sealed nicely. But I am noticing that when I set the grill to 225 the temp is going + - 25 degrees. Got down to 200 and up to 250. Also if I set it to 180 it will shoot up to 225.

My 22 was the same, most are, That's why I upgraded to the 575.

I couldn't do jerky in my 22 cuz it wouldn't go down that low.
Should have nothing to do with a gasket or not.

Whats the reasoning for the lid seal?
Does your Silv 620 already have a built in seal???

The reason us 'lap over lid' guys do it is loss of heat and smoke, if your style don't have that problem then don't do it.
