Talking about wear and tear. Apparently I don't use my grill enough since it's still looks good.

Yeah I'm sure heat does have something to do with it, but just general exposure too. Like windshield wipers.
Mine popped out while pushing a probe thru, so I noticed it was not as rubbery as a new one, so I just replaced it.
The old one wouldn't go right back in EZ.

And the obvious reply, not to miss that chance,
That's what she said! 🤣😊
Hence the fact that I needed a new rubber.................. grommet

I didnt even know they made replacement grommets, i lost mine a long time ago and widdled down a wine cork with a wire groove in it and it seems to work perfectly and still holds up, haha..

Mine pops out too easy and doesn't want to go back in. It's a PITA. I never run it over 280 degrees though, usually 210, so it doesn't get hard.

I bought my Traeger used. I never even knew it was supposed to have a meat probe grommet. I’ve been going bare back this whole time!?

Exactly the same experience as @Slimpicker , including the Amazon order. The grommet gets stiff after a while (even under a cover in Florida weather) and pulls out with the probe. New one fits right in and forms to the hole. Good idea to pick them up and have spares ready.

I’ve had these last a decade or more. In fact I’ve never replaced one. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I suppose it could be the climate, but it’s in the side wall of a grill that’s routinely 200+ degrees. 🤣🤣🤣

My post wasn't about I HAD to replace it... I wanted to.
And I go over 300° quit often actually.
