My neighbor just got a 650 and we can’t seem to connect it to the app. Is this the issue I hear people are having? (I should note my 885 is working perfectly fine and never had issues so this is new to me)

I scan the QR code, type in the WiFi password, it scrolls...then goes to the home screen. Then the traeger menu pops up with the WiFi name and all that. Click menu on the D2. open the app and it’s not there...just shows the plus sign to add a grill and start over again.

If you go to the About screen on the grill, what Firmware and Config does it have?

What firmware is he on? May have to wait for the grill to update to 2.00.01. Give it a bit.

I’ll check later, they aren’t home anymore. But 2.00.01 is what they want/need?

Pardon my ignorance, but is there a way to force it?

no way to force it. They want something other than 2.00.00. If it’s something older, it’ll update to 2.00.01.

New member here. I just connected my Ironwood 650 yesterday. Took about four tries. I ended up having to get close up to the router and it finally worked. It immediately updated to V 02.00.01. Only issue I have is that screen in the hopper. It’s a PITA to empty the hopper

Agreed. Also makes it hard to keep the pile level so the sensor is accurate. Easy to remove though. Just have to loosen 2 screws. My last Traeger didn’t have one. Someone must have lost a finger.

I just removed the 2 screws that hold the screen in. Then the screen still rests in place on the 885 hopper in the normal location and then easy to move to level or clean the hopper.

I have that screen on my new Timberline 850. I couldn’t imagine what purpose it served, other than making it difficult to empty the hopper. Your comment is probably exactly why they put it there. I assume there is no good reason not to remove it..

First thing tomorrow. Anyone know if I can have the app on both iPad and smartphone?
