Ironwood 885
Hi there - I've recently purchased an Ironwood 885 and would like to integrate this into my outdoor kitchen which will be going through a signifcant refurb in the coming weeks. As part of the planning for this, I'd like to understand any considerations I need to make with regards to placement, heat, surroundings, access etc. I'm still getting to know my Traeger, so if any of you more experienced users can provide me any important information, I'd be very grateful.

The Traeger will replace the BBQ in the picture below, and be placed on a lowered countertop (circa 55cm high).

Thanks

The Ironwood vents out the back. You need to think about smoke & heat coming out there.

Here's my outdoor kitchen build. I keep the grills away from the inner wall.

Thanks Grillmeister

Yes, I've been looking at your thread. Great job, however you've kept the legs on your grill from what i can see. I bought my Ironwood with the understanding (due to information from a friend) that it would be easy to use it on a countertop without the legs. My concern is that I'm finding contradictory messaging. I asked Traeger support and they said this definitely shouldn't be done due to it being a fire hazard. I guess they are being super-safe, but if there is significant risk involved then I either want to avoid doing so, or absolutely minimise the risk by building the kitchen and countertop in an appropriate way. I also saw a mention of 'horror stories' (though haven't seen any myself), so don't want to fall into the same problems that others may have.

Hello!

Did you ever get any additional feedback from this? I am in the same boat as you and doing the exact same type project. I contacted Traeger and they advised that if I build around the Ironwood 885 (same as yours) to ensure the contractor architects around the areas where the smoke ventilates (The back and under the pellet hopper).
