If you could come up with a method to make hot metal and glass glow red when it is hot enough to burn you, you could make a fortune. They have to be super hot before they glows, well beyond the burn point.

With my last cook, I was pulling the temperature probes out of my completed cook when I made the mistake of reaching for the probe with my bare hand rather than the one with a glove. Ouch!

My excuse is that I am a senior citizen and cannot remember stuff. What's your excuse?
