Guinness Shepherd’s Pie
HARDWOOD: Hickory
COOK TIME: 45 Minutes (Grill time)
EQUIPMENT:
* aluminum Pan
* Cast Iron Skillet
* Large Pot
INGREDIENTS:
* I – Can of Guinness Beer
* 1 – LB Ground Beef
* 4 – Garlic Cloves, Minced
* 1 – Large onion, Diced
* 1 ½ - cups of Tomato Sauce
* 4 – Cups of Frozen mixed vegetables
* 2 – Tablespoons of Worcestershire Powder
* 1 – Teaspoon Thyme
* 6 – Potatoes
* 1 – Stick of Butter
* ½ - Cup of Milk
* 1 ½ - Cups of Shredded Cheddar Cheese
* Salt & Pepper to taste
PREPARATION:
1. Bring a large pot of water to boil for the potatoes; Let this heat up while you cook the meat mixture.
2. In a large skillet, cook the onion; add the garlic; add the Beef and cook until browned. Drain off grease.
3. Add tomato sauce and vegetables. Cook for 4-5 minutes while stirring.
4. Add GUINNESS, Worcestershire power, thyme and salt and pepper to taste.
5. Boil until the liquid has rendered by half and thickened (about 15 minutes)
6. Add the potatoes to the boiling water and cook for 15-20 minutes or until soft but not mushy. Then drain and cool.
7. Mash the potatoes with the butter, milk, salt and pepper to taste.
8. Once meat mixture is done cooking, start grill and set temperature to 350 degrees.
9. Bake for 30-45 minutes or until potatoes are golden brown and cheese is melted.
10. Serve Hot.
