Grease drips from lid

When I cook at high heat, grease drips from inside the lid to our deck. Can someone tell me why this happens and what is the solution. Also the dripped grease stains the Pergo deck and won't remove with Dawn or Power washer, Any tricks?

My guess would be that at high temps you will get grease splatter on the inside of the lid an then gravity takes over and it runs down the inside of the lid and onto your nice deck. If I were you I’d pick up one of these,
