Hello to everyone, I am new to the forum and would appreciate you advise.
I am looking to purchase a thermometer and I am torn between the Signals and the Fireboard.
I like the Fireboard 2 but the screen is not as informative and does not have as many options as the Signals.
Also, by reading through various posts, it seems the Fireboard CS can be unresponsive needing intervention by the heavyweights.
It seems like if you wanted to cook without using the Wifi, the Signals is a better option.
Also, the Signals has a 2 year warranty and an additional probe. This needs to be considered in the apples to apples comparison.
The Signals is a tad more expensive and the battery and power charging is not the best. It is not a standard USB.
It seems the battery lasts half as long and it takes twice as long to charge when compared with the Fireboard 2.
Also, the Signals seems to have better stability and weather resistance.
Do these companies have sales from time to time?
Your opinions will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Puertex

I have a FB2, I have never seen a sale on FB’s.
‘the CS for FB is outstanding.

Signals is Thermoworks, very trusted company IMO...

But have you seen the FB cooks that are linked and can be followed by anyone, LIVE.

FireBoard has a cloud that when you experience any problem they can see when and when it happened.

FireBoard does NOT require your WiFi or bluetooth to be on in your phone, Once it's fired up you turn the APP on and it's there... the APP connects to the cloud your unit is connected to.
The INSTANT READ is a pull down in the "notification" right from your home screen, a peek at your temps, swipe up and closed phone.... don't get easier than that.

Hi !
No I have not seen the FB linked cooks... Where are they located?

Also, Can you label the probe channel on the thermometer itself? For example indicate "Pork" on channel 1. I have not seen this in the reviews I have seen.
Thanks !

Here is a screen shot with 5 of the 6 probes labeled.

Signals supports four temp probes and can run a blower like for a BGE. They provide two of each of four colors donuts to identify each lead. You can move the color names as we all as use a four character name for each probe. I have used Thermoworks products for over ten years and never had a mechanical failure. They are actually a UK company so when I was there more, I could make a local call for my questions.

Due to my maddening Traeger temperature probe issues, I ordered a Fireboard 2 system to then have three sensors to figure out which ones were accurate. In frustration, I returned the Century 885 to CostCo for a full refund of the purchase price and sales tax before the Fireboard arrived.

My Yoder YS640S has a Fireboard designed controller. So the Fireboard app displays the air and two meat probes from the Yoder plus the six Fireboard 2 probes on the same screen on my iPhone.

Signals and Fireboard are both great temp monitoring devices. There are often "sales" on the Thermoworks website for their products. One can signup for their sale notices.

Can you customize the channel name in the thermometer itself, not on the app? Like instead of showing Channel 1, in the LCD display, can you get it to display something like "pork" or "chick"? Its OK if you have to do it in the app but does the app push the channel labels to the thermometer? This question applies to the Fireboard 2 not the FB Drive.

Thanks !

Yes. What ever you name the channel in the app shows on the Fireboard.
And there are many different views available on on the LCD as well.

Thanks for the info ! I am leaning towards the Fireboard due to its more robust battery and charging design...

The Signals appears to have a greater tolerance for getting damp. I turned a tupperware storage device upside down as a rain shelter you could dtill see through

The Fireboard doesn't have a keyboard, so you use the app or Fireboard. io web page on a computer.
