connect to wifi issues

First time it connected just fine and worked for three days. I left the grill unplugged for a few days so thought that messed something up with the connection. I went and changed all the settings in the eero app to what the Traeger faq says and moved one of my mesh hubs into my garage right next to my grill then disabled the 5ghz network with eero while I tried to connect and still no go. I also tried making a separate 2.4ghz from my CenturyLink router just for the grill and that didn’t work. Traeger said it is on their end so idk I’ll try again tonight and see what happens
I followed every single recommendation for the EERO Mesh network on a brand new Ironwood 885. I could Never connect to my Wifi until……
Just before throwing in the towel and contacting support, a rabbit hole that would probably put me in an endless loop and still not yield results, I tried a “hail mary pass”. I had been using my iPhone 16 Pro for the Traeger app and truing to complete the WIFI setup for like 2.5 hours. Was already preparing myself to rummage through my IT graveyard and find an old router that couldn’t exceed 2.4 ghz. and just daisy chain it to the Eero mesh via. Gigabit switch…ugh!
So, i grabbed my iPAD, loaded the traeger app, connected the iPad to the Eero Guest network, disabled Advanced Security and disabled 5.0 ghz for the 10 min window on Eero. Voila! iPad connected without a hitch on the first Try and downloawd files and firmware update. No rhyme or reason here guys but, worth a shot if you have an alternate device upon which you can install the Traeger app.
Now I have a “guest” SID running and exposed on my network and basically just for the Traeger Ironwood. My motto being, “if it ain’t broke, I’m not finished” will probably lead me to try and put the Ironwood on the 5ghz connection BUT using the iPad and not the iPhone 16 as a conduit. Assuming that if it fails, can always go back to the Guest account, right? Ha, ha, gonna let that one sit for a while but knowing me, (plus a few beers) I’m gonna jump right back into the deep end!

Recap: if failing on one device try another!

have you tried yesterday or today? I was able to get mine to connect and another forum member who was having issues got his to connect as well. I will be cooking with it tonight. I’ll let you know if it works tonight
I also had some perplexing connectivity issues on my Pro 575. Finally resolved it by re-installing the Traeger App

I had tried my iPhone 16 pro, iPad and and android tablet. They all didn’t work for a day and a half. Then my phone worked. I haven’t tried to cook with it yet but will soon!

I’m glad it wasn’t just me. Wasn’t a good way to start out with the WiFi stuff.

I have the Traeger Pro 575 wifire unit (purchased Sept 2020). I was replacing the control board as my original LED screen died but the unit worked on my phone. I read all the comments I could find on this forum and other internet posts with no luck. Anyway, I sent the first replacement board back to a third party ( and got my refund) and ordered a board from Traeger directly. Still had the same problems. As it turned out, there were several issues that may have played a part but as of this morning all is well. I wish Traeger had a more robust Customer Service group an kept their software more durably tested to meet the needs of all their products. I think the KISS (keep it simple stupid) method would work better even if it took a few more steps on the app (like it did 5 years ago with no problems).

1) I disconnected my TP-Link mesh systems and went back to the original ATT supplied wifi and shut off the 5ghz band and allowed only the 2.4 band to work.
2) I had to put the router within 10 feet of the Trager wifi ( as the extra help app {Route This Helps} told me the 90 MBS was not strong enough (really??) at 30 feet and one window?? The help app also offered some other options including item 4 below.
3) I put the iPhone on Airplane mode so the cell phone could not switch to cell service and complicate the communication.
4) On iPhone, the "iCloud Private Relay" must be turned off. ( there is an option to simply pause for 24 hours)
5) I think that was about it. Once I got the connection made I turned the 5 ghz band on and connected the TP-Link Deco 6E mesh system and everything still works fine and my grill is on my porch and happy with mesh signal.

My personal opinion, the new "one-stop" connection software is not sufficiently pliable for some of their older hardware models and/or insufficient enough to meet the needs of newer Mesh units. Also, potentially the hardware is inferior - especially the antenna. I read in two places where some users, with greater electronic knowledge, added antennas to the board which solved their problem.

Anyway, it is working now. I hope this helps someone as I spent 3 weeks and probably 15 hours to solve this issue.
