Timberline 850
I just got my Timberline 850 and after the initial seasoning and 1 or 2 grills, there seems to be some paint discoloration where I have noticed 2 grey areas forming on the back of my Timberline.

Current owners: Is this also present on yours? Or do not have this happening at all (zero discoloration)? Post pictures if you can and how long it has been used.

There are tons of posts on paint peeling issues. If yours begins to peel contact traeger. They’ll likely send you another......and heck you may even get to keep this one too

My replacement (after about 6 months) Timberline 1300 is due to arrive tomorrow. I didn't see discoloration, but I did have bubbling paint underneath and on the grease trap area on the side. I agree with CMTiger that a call to CS is worth the effort. When I first contacted them, the original solution offered was to go to Home Depot and buy high-heat spray paint :)....they were very pleasant to work with, but after doing a live stream, they agreed to replace the grill.

Edit: Given that Traeger's temp is often off, the grill may end up at 500F even if it's set for 450F, so I have been for a while, and always will use my InkBird to monitor the pit temp so that when I do my pizza and other higher temp cooks, I don't get it too hot. Still not an ideal situation for a $2,000 grill, so hopefully my replacement will be more (cosmetically at least) durable.

That is the hottest area of the grill, the two exhaust ports are in the bottom right and left corners of the back box.

I insulated my TIMBERLINE 850, first in those corners and later the whole grill.

I do routinely spray grill spray oil on that back panel and rub it down with a paper towel to keep it seasoned. So far, no paint lost in two years.

I did the RemE insulation project on my 1300, however I also used high temp automotive paint on the back and around the location of the vents….

My rear is completely rusted and Traeger will not help me. They won't stand behind their product!View attachment 22780
They say that’s due to grease fires and that you ares supposed to clean out the down draft vent. Nobody does that of course. Just buy some super fine grit sand paper and high heat spray paint.
