Howdy folks,
I just retired a Li'l Tex, when I received a Century 885 for Father's Day, Birthday, Christmas, etc. I received the Li'l Tex when it first came out, and I am tired of replacing parts. I was astounded at the difference in steel quality, ease of assembly and over all features of the 885. I love this machine. It is so big, and now I can smoke turkey's and other big stuff.
The 885 has a small shelf above the main grates inside the grill. Is there a place to store the shelf when not in use? I am looking at the bottom shelf below the warmer as an alternative, but noticed a slotted hook on the back of the hopper bin and wondered if it would work.
The one thing I miss on the Century 885 is the front shelf, and I don't see one offered by Traeger, either. Is there another front shelf that is compatible? There are two holes on the front of each side that appear to be connection points.
So far I have only smoked leg quarters, but today I'll smoke salmon, whole chicken tomorrow and steaks on Sunday. Attached is a photo of it smoking away. When I seasoned the grill, it achieved 500+ F quickly. Li'l Tex rarely got to 400F. It took a few goes to get WiFi working, but I was finally successful.
Have fun,
Mike C
