Century 885, Lil Tex
Howdy folks,

I just retired a Li'l Tex, when I received a Century 885 for Father's Day, Birthday, Christmas, etc. I received the Li'l Tex when it first came out, and I am tired of replacing parts. I was astounded at the difference in steel quality, ease of assembly and over all features of the 885. I love this machine. It is so big, and now I can smoke turkey's and other big stuff. ;)

The 885 has a small shelf above the main grates inside the grill. Is there a place to store the shelf when not in use? I am looking at the bottom shelf below the warmer as an alternative, but noticed a slotted hook on the back of the hopper bin and wondered if it would work.

The one thing I miss on the Century 885 is the front shelf, and I don't see one offered by Traeger, either. Is there another front shelf that is compatible? There are two holes on the front of each side that appear to be connection points.

So far I have only smoked leg quarters, but today I'll smoke salmon, whole chicken tomorrow and steaks on Sunday. Attached is a photo of it smoking away. When I seasoned the grill, it achieved 500+ F quickly. Li'l Tex rarely got to 400F. It took a few goes to get WiFi working, but I was finally successful.

Have fun,
Mike C

The slotted hooks are for hanging the second grate when not in use on the Ironwoods, I assume that would be the same for that grill seeing it has them
Nice amount of smoke on that!

Thanks Rusty! I'll look for slots on back. ~mike c

I didn't find slots on the 885, so just used the bottom shelf. Still looking for a front shelf. ~mike c

The Century 34 front shelf is a perfect fit. Takes five minutes and a single screwdriver to install

Picked up the shelf on Amazon and installed it yesterday. It is a perfect fit and so nice to have a shelf again. Thanks again. ~mike c

The Amazon order page for the front shelf specifies it works only for models starting with "TFB" which must be the box size. The CostCo model is TFB88GLF. So I ordered it.

Also ordered the Traeger pellet level device on Amazon.

Both items in stock.

Ordered the Traeger Century 885 grill with cover included @ the CostCo road show in Mesa on 4DEC2020. Might get here by New Years.

The new Traeger joins my medium Big Green Egg and new this spring six burner built in Weber grill.

The shelf I ordered (see above post) fit perfectly.

Inside the pellet box are the two screws and rubber grommet that could allow for a pellet level device to be installed based upon looking at other models at a local Ace Hardware. The D2 controller mentions the pellet level device. Traeger support says device will not work.

Today, I removed the D2 control head from the grill and saw no connection pins for the pellet device per se.

Has anyone been able to connect the pellet level device on the Century 885 from CostCo and have it work?

Just installed the Traeger pellet level device in about ten minutes. One requirement for calibration is an empty pellet hopper. It works since the pellet level now displays on my iPhone Traeger app.

Just picked up my Century 885 yesterday and was wondering if you could post a link to the correct Folding Tray. From what i've read the new Century 34 trays don't fit, but the older models do.

Thanks
Chris
