Hi, I have done 3 briskets so far. All from Costco, all full packers, all trimmed
First 14 lb, used Traeger App recipe - "TRAEGER BBQ BRISKET",
Followed cooking instructions
Used Traeger beef rub and Traeger rub, wrapped overnight,
I injected with beef broth and cooked, Hickory pellets
Good flavor, did burnt ends too.
2nd brisket 19 lb, I followed Franklin BBQ recipe, only salt and pepper no injection, oak pellets
I was not impressed with the flavor
3rd brisket 19 lb, Mesquite pellets, used a friends rub, 2 packs Mccormicks Mesquite marinade, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, white sugar, brown sugar
Rubbed, sat overnight, I mixed some rub with beef broth and injected
I was also not impressed with the flavor, I thought with all those ingredients it would be great, but it was just ok.
I am going to stick with the Traeger app recipes and stay with 14 lb briskets
Can anyone comment on the other APP recipes are they bursting with flavor, Braised sweet & sour looks good
