BBQ020
I have a BBQ020, walked thru all the usual suspects up to now, it won't turn on. I have been on the phone with Traeger, they say that the BAC019 controller is no longer available for this grill, I have done some research for a sub or upgrade for my grill. Has anyone else had one, or know of a fix for my grill? I have found the BAC236 that says it will fit all grills, they told me that there is nothing with molded plugs like the BAC019, it is too good of a grill to just scrap!!!! Any help will be useful, thanks in advance.

Sorry, im not familiar with this grill. But good luck hope you get it fixed!

it is the PTG flattop with the Off, Smoke, Medium and High settings on the control panel. Is there a panel that replaces it?

If it looks like this one, you might want to consider something like a Country Smokers "Traveler" because at this price ($175), you will probably spend more for a new controller for the old grill, plus it's more modern, just a thought.

I have found controllers for under $50, they say are direct replacements, but have a couple questions on the wiring. They have the molded plugs like the old controller.

I have been working on this project for a couple weeks, only because shipping time are stupid long right now!!!! I have replaced the board with a new digital controller, I have installed the 2" RTD probe I found on line with Stove parts 4 less. The grill started to work flawlessly, digital temp stayed same as mechanical thermometer. The reason the grilled failed is the auger motor. I have a new one ordered. I was told that this grill couldn't be fixed, I took that as a challenge!!! I will have a lot less in parts than a new grill. If some one has the same issue let me know. I also went to the local Traeger dealer and was told they don't keep repair parts on hand, really, I got the standard "if your grill is still under warranty, call Traeger they will be happy to help you." Auger motors, hot rods are common parts, why not carry them?

So now we have had time to use the updated grill. I have used a digital thermometer at the same time as cooking, the digital on the grill and portable thermometer are within about 5 degrees during cooking. The thing that got me was the PTG was already drilled for the probe.

Hey Harri4isu! I have the BBA020 as well. The temp drops below 150 degrees and has a hard time staying consistent. I would like to upgrade the parts of this grill, because like you, I think it is too good of a grill to get rid of. Can you tell me where you got your parts from? I was thinking a digital controller would help resolve the issue, but looking at all the options out there, it is hard to find which is the correct replacement. Is there anything else you can think of that may help?

I know this is way past the original posts but I just found it and it has helped me a lot. I have the BBQ020, it quit and I was looking for information on getting it going. I purchased the updated control panel from Treeger but it didn't come with instructions. Everything seemed to be direct plug in except for the temperature sensor--I didn't know where it mounted. This post mentioned the existing mounting hole, I found it but no hole for the wires. I drilled a hole above the main fan, installed the wiring and all works great. The temperature readout seems to read low so I'm still working on that.
