I am new to pellet cookers. I have had a USD and an offset stick burner for about 10 years. I got a Silverton 620 at Costco recently. It took 10 attempts to connect to wifire, but it finally connected. My question is Do you need to clear the auger of pellets after every cook? I do empty the hopper every time, but it took 45 min. to get the pellets out of the auger using the setting on the control panel and a shop-vac. Am I doing something wrong?

No reason to empty the auger if you plan on using it even semi regularly. If you wanted to change pellets out, just dump the hopper and fill with the new pellets. the pellets in the auger will burn off in no time and wont change the cook or smoke much (y)

Thanks for the quick response.

I will use a vac after every cook to get the pellet dust out and I vac the fire pit, takes 5 mins. I leave the pellets in the auger. I only empty the hopper when the weather goes bad and there is a possibility of the pellets getting some moisture into them.
