I’m considering adding a thermometer into the door of my Ironwood 885 about 1” above the normal rack setting. Watched a Franklin video where he added to a stick burner. Any thoughts?

It won't be accurate because heat comes from below the drip tray and up around the edges. So it will read hotter as opposed to a stick burner with a fire box, where heat comes from the side where the fire box is and across the grate and travels out the chimney.

I mounted Ambient Thermo probes on the left and right sides one next to the Traeger grill probe and the other on the opposite side at the same location.

and to me, that's the way to do it.
