Wire question

Hello I replaced my control panel on my TFT17LLA portable smoker. All plugs matched up. Then, I spotted this random shredded wire coming from the auger motor mount. I don't see any other shredded wires. is this a ground to nowhere? please tell me what to fix. thanks

If this is a bare wire then it is definitely a ground wire. If it will reach a screw somewhere on the chassis, you can attach it there. If there is no screw within reach, it probably came that way from the factory.
