Is there any reason the Wifire App doesn't use audible alarm when timer ends or setpoints are reached? I get a very quick text indicating the timer timed out, but that is of absolutely no use unless your actively looking at your phone. The App should trigger an alarm and keep active until silenced by user.

Yeah ... this is a FAQ/complaint since version 2.x of the App was released ... The audible notifications have disappeared, and I only get visual notifications (+vibration on Apple Watch) if the App is not running in the foreground (i.e. on screen), or if the device is locked ... if the App is active there are no notifications provided (audible, visual, or vibration) ... something is amiss ... I forgot to ask the Traeger Support rep about this yesterday when i called in on another issue - will make a call next week to get some feedback ... I really wish they had an email address that they monitored & responded to for non-critical Q&A, because emailing service@traegergrills.com or info@traegergrills.com results in the following AutoResponse message:

AUTOMATED RESPONSE
Thank you for your message! I am sorry to inform you this is an unmonitored email address.

Yes, I know the frustration using Traeger Support. The support line has either a very long 'on-hold' time or a call back that is never convenient for the user. I live in Alaska and seldom at or near my Traeger grill when they call back needing screen data. At one time I had an email address and was communicating with someone there, then he just quit replying back and I got the automatic answer to call Traeger Support. I just gave up on their Support group and have accepted that Traeger is just another Chinese company.

Yup, the app timer is useless in its current state. I use my Apple Watch, easier to set, hands free, "Hey Siri, set a timer for 10 minutes". Useful because my hands are often busy when changing times, flipping meat etc. at the grill.

I understand you're work around. I don't wear an Apple watch. I didn't expect the Traeger wifire to be such an experiment in frustration. Seems like Traeger wifire keeps taking steps backwards. Paid big buck and expected better quality from Traeger.

I’m not even getting watch notifications. I get a notification on my watch when shutdown is complete. Who cares?? Doesn’t notify me about anything else. Totally useless. The grill will beep when the timer finishes though

Sadly I just no longer use the timer or temp probe because I never hear them it seems.

I use the fireboard2 for temp alarms, and set it to text and email so I always get them now.

I just use WiFire to control the grill which is good enough.

I may be an anomaly but I get audible alerts on my Apple watch, iPad, and iPhone when temp is reached, timer is done, and shutdown. Now other stuff (non-grilling) doesn’t seem to notify me...lol

I don't use the timer, but I do get the beep for temp reached and shutdown complete.

I use the timer function on my fitbit for less than 99 minutes and I use the alarm function on my iPhone for longer times after that. It's reliable.

Yup, same here. Picked up a Fireboard last week because one probe is never enough. Fireboard being able to control temp remotely is enough for me although I do also use the timer function occasionally but most of my cooks are temp based vs time.

If you haven't tried the optional Fireboard "Competition" probes, they are awesome. They are 1/16" diameter needle probes with no bulky metal bulb like the standard probes, so they are easy to thread thru the Traeger side ports. They are within a dollar in cost to the std probes so I don't even know why they bother to have both types.

can you ask them for the probes you want and just pay the difference instead of getting 2 probes I don't want... I like those straight probes instead of that bulb thing.

I want to use Fireboard mostly for several ambient probes, I now have 2 Meaters for meat temp...
There does not seem to be anything out there to replace this POS Traeger probe that was reading again up to 20* lower than the grill was reading according to 3 Maverick Probes I had in there... Maverick doesn't go to 400* tho so I will be getting more ambient probes from Fireboard than meat probes.

They are very responsive, it's worth asking!
