Good morning folks,

I have been contemplating a traeger for over a year now. I married a Texan and have some casual experience on a full sized wood smoker but I currently live in a city and don’t have the space for a full sized smoker.I think I’m ready to pull
The trigger on a traeger but I had a few questions that I figured you all could answer.

1) I have a decent sized patio but I live in the city. My back alley is tiny (shoulder width). As a result, the most likely way I move my traeger whenever I move will be through the back and front door. Which leads me to my questions. How deep are the wheelbases of the ironwood 650 and pro575? The dimensions I can find seem to only reference the depth of the grill surface which I assume is not the deepest/widest profile of the grill.

2) what do I need to do or check to make sure I don’t have the WiFi issues that are discussed everywhere? I have a google nest but I have a separate extender that I can use that sends out 2.4 ghz. I tested it and was able to log on to the that signal where I would have the smoker. Any other steps I can take to ensure I don’t have the issues that are widely discussed?

3) Is the irondwood worth the $400 extra? I have read the press reviews and know the fundamental “upgrades” included. It also seems as that the ironwood may have a few more issues (leaking smoke? Trouble keeping temp? More paint issues?). What are the thoughts of everyone on here?

4) How likely is this paint bubbling/peeling scenario? I am having trouble determining if I am just seeing the pissed off few online or if this is a widespread issue that most deal with.

5) Where should I buy my smoker from? I see issues with warranty claims if you don’t buy it directly from traeger? Seems like my options are: 1) directly from traeger’s site; 2) Home Depot; 3) ace; or 4) Amazon traeger store

Thanks!

I can't answer #1 because I bought an Ironwood 885

2) Make sure the front of the Traeger faces the extender for best results. Less things between the two the better.
3) I like the downdraft system of the Ironwood. I have no other leaks and my 885 is stock.
4) Paint issues. I have chosen not to run temps over 350 degrees. Seems paint issues more common with high cook temps. The 885 is a wood fired oven and I leave high temp to my Genesis. I have no paint issues.
5) I bought mine from a local dealer because they stock parts and accessories. I talk to the same young lady each time and she treats me great. I search for local platinum dealers. Ace was my second choice.
