Just looking to try something new. I'm big meat church fan. Holy Gospel on steak and Honey hog Hot on my chicken and poultry. I also use the blackened sakatchewan rub for seafood and steaks from treager its awesome!

What are you using? Anybody try Kosmos Q?

I have been making up my own, I can get the ingredients at a fraction of the cost of Meat church rubs. I do like the Holy Cow though. ($20 a bottle here in Oz)

Meatheads Recipe
  1. Mephis Dust on Pork
  2. Big Bad Beef Rub on Beef

Do you have any good home made rub recipes you'd care to share, I'm all for making my own and trying them out, I did use some Butt Rub which was good though!

I highly recommend this book by Meathead has some great stuff in it. These are his rubs or adaptions that work for me.

Theses are the ones I use the most, generally I don't use salt in my rubs I either dry brine 24 hrs in advance or for beef I inject with the wet brine 3 hrs before cooking.

Sure shot sid's Gun Powder I think is the name. It goes on 90% of what I cook. Very unique. Went through a couple Kosmo's Q and its not bad, but I've started making my own mixes for butts, ribs, and briskets.

I picked up a few to try. Haven't had the opportunity yet as the shipment of Meat Church rubs arrived yesterday. Ribs are on the menu this weekend, so they will be sampled. I also made up some of the Willy's rub to try.20200507_064946.jpg

+1 for the Meat Church. Their Holy Cow puts an awesome crust on burgers and it's delicious on beef. Havent tried it on anything else. I do a combo of Honey Hog on meat side of ribs and Honey Hog Hot on the bone side. I tried the Voodoo yesterday on some beer can chicken and it was awesome.

Good to hear on their rubs. Most of the reviews have been positive for them so I thought they were worth the try
