Tri-Tip pointers for a newbie

Hi,
Im a newbie to this smoking venture. Going to smoke a tri tip tomorrow. Any pointers or good recipes ?

I've done a couple on the trigger.
I use an ancho chile coffee rub on mine, then cook on smoke level (under 225) until within 10~15 degrees of my desired final interior temp. I like the outside seared, so:

At that point, I either pull it off and crank the Traeger to max heat and when it is hot enough toss it back on for five to seven minutes a side, or if I also have the gas grill going, I'll just flop it off the Traeger onto a hot (sear ready) gas grill to sear both sides for a nice finish.

I did a 3lb tri tip and used the Treaeger coffee rub for beef wow. I never had tri tip smoked like this! I used the traeger recipe for the meat. Totally a hit!
