Traeger Grills, of Salt Lake City, Utah is recalling about 16,100 of the Scout and Ranger portable wood pellet grills due to a fire hazard.

The problem is that grease can leak from the drip tray and catch on fire. Traeger has received 6 reports of grease fires in the grill. No injuries have been reported.

This recall involves the Scout and Ranger portable wood-pellet fueled grills. The portable grills are black-metal rectangular boxes with a clamshell opening for access to the grill.

They were sold at Costco, Ace Hardware stores, other stores nationwide, and online from March 2018 through July 2018 for between $300 and $400.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled grills and contact Traeger Grills for a free replacement grill, free replacement drip tray to repair the grill, or a full refund.

For more information, call Traeger Grills at 800-872-3437 from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. PT, Monday through Sunday, at [email protected] or online at www.traegergrills.com and click on “Product Safety.”

There seems to be no product safety tab on the Traeger site AND we’ve had the same problem with the high end timberline 850. It has started on fire several times

My 885 caught fire once during the sear part of a reverse sear. It flashed when I opened the lid to turn the steaks and it went out when I closed it.

My PTG caught fire and I took it back to Costco.
