That little skinny Stainless Steel shelf out front....
What is it for?
I have just ripped it off and ordered folding shelf brackets to add a real shelf like the Ironwood.
It’s my only disappointment with this grill.
I will post pictures later.

I think it is for a place to put your beverage or tongs. It ain't good for much else.

It's the main reason I did NOT buy one and went with the Ironwood 885 and the fold down shelf add on. Got most of the features plus my shelf. Love it!

Report back on this mod please, I'm wanting to replace mine as well. I'm also looking into possibly replacing the gasket as well, since middle lid gasket (top of lid) area keeps popping out. Getting tired of pushing it in. Haven't decided how i'm gonna fix / replace w/ something else.

I"m not really sure what they were thinking when they designed this, I really loved my shelf on my Pro Elite 34 and I just got the timberline 1300 and the shelf is pretty useless in my opinion.

lol, I thought the same thing.. For such an expensive high end grill, they sure did skimp on the shelf. Maybe the 2020 model will have an extended one.

Has anyone found a folding shelf solution for the Timberline 1300? The lack of a folding front shelf is my only issue with the T 1300.

I’d really appreciate it if you post how you fixed this issue.

Anyone have the part number for a Timberline 1300 Folding Shelf ?, I saw a web site that had a Pro 34 shelf the was supposed to fit but it did not say Timberline 1300 specifically, so I am hesitant...
My Timberline was manufactured in April 2020....

Off the shelf, not that I've seen. But @RemE installed a sweet DIY solution with for his, I'd search for his thread and see what you think. Otherwise, I think the only solution is using the stock shelf as a support bracket to build your own, folding shelf if that's what you want.

Like others, this is what kept me from spending more on what seemed like a less-capable grill/smoker than the Ironwood series. I've had my 885 for 6 months now and love it. It'll be interesting to see how it does in colder weather with less insulation than the Timberline, but burning a little more fuel (if that's all it ends up being) will take a long time to make up the cost difference for what is otherwise a very similar product.

How about a bottom shelf say 40 1/2 x 21, wood or metal w/ cut outs for the legs

This one is seriously easy to DIY, especially if you don't worry about the cut outs for the legs. I used spare flooring from a house project and just had it span between the brackets that connect the legs.
