So, there I was grilling up some Jidori chicken breasts. I never tried them before, the butcher said they were the finest chicken, pretty pricy.

I had grilled one side and went in to flip them. Normally I use tongs with chicken parts. I happened to grab a big spatula and quickly slid it under the chicken. To my shock and horror, one breast pushed to the rear of the bottom rack, were there is a open slot, it dropped into the belly of the beast in the blink of an eye!!!

I was PISSED! there was no way to retrieve it with the grill fired up, and I had to let it burn up. Why in the hell is there a deliberate open slot in the rear???

Tough lesson learned.

I think it has something to do with the convection feature of the Ironwood. I noticed that gap when I was seasoning my new Ironwood 885 yesterday. The bottom grid has a raised lip back there, but apparently not enough.

So, how was the Jidori? How bad was the piece that slipped into Dante's furnace?

Thanks for heads up.
