Timberline 1300
I have a new Timberline 1300 that I've only used 5-6 times and I noticed that the grease channel at the front of the grill is starting to peel and rust over. If this was happening a year from now I wouldn't be concerned but on a brand new grill it bothers me. I reached out to customer service and the guy I spoke first blamed me for not cleaning it out and therefor causing a grease fire, and then said that it is normal.

I highly doubt the grease fire - I clean out the grease after every cook (of which there are few), and the peeling started after cooking ribs at 225 - 275 degrees max so it doesn't make much sense.

Anyway, maybe it is normal and I'm overthinking it - but I just came here to get some opinions. I took this picture right when I finished cooking - so this is as dirty as it has gotten in my 3 weeks of ownership.

Same has happened to my 1300. Have several buddies that also have 1300s, who I called and they also confirmed this has happened to theirs as well. Mine looks just like your photo.

Same exact thing is going on with mine. I’ve had it for about six months but it’s been happening since the beginning and I take pretty good care of the grill. There’s always some grease residue here and there (no way to always keep it looking brand new) but never any buildup or pooling that should cause any grease fires. That front grease trough is what gets the worst on mine. I think it’s a poor design. You would think it would drain into the grease catch but it seems like most of it just sits there in the trough. Customer service also blamed me for not cleaning it properly even though I have always kept up with cleaning according to their instructions and owners manual. Pretty frustrating that a $2300 grill doesn’t work the way it should. We should get as many 1300 owners together and write a letter haha
