I've been having issues with my grill (Junior 20, I think) holding temperature. I'm trying to smoke a turkey today and have the grill set to 225. It's been fluctuating from 180 to right around 300, with it tending to be on the higher end. It was sitting at like 275 so I bumped the p number all the way to 5. I'd been monitoring it and trying to keep it around 225 as best I can,, but then company showed up. I just went to check on it at it was at 100 before shutting down with an LEF error.

I used to love this grill, but it's really ticking me off lately. Is there anything I can try that might fix it?

Mine doesnt swing around but it is (I think) inaccurate. I have to set the traeger at 345 to maintain 325 on my meater probe.

I think your P setting might be to high. The higher the setting the longer the pause between the augur feeding pellets into the burn chamber. P-2 is the factory setting on mine, I find on my Texas that P-3 gives me a more stable temp. with less temperature swings. On mine the actual temp on the readout and my independent internal thermometer are always very close but will always be about 25 to 30 degrees higher that setting on the controller. Since I know this I set the controller to compensate for the difference. I have attached the P setting chart from Traeger. I hope this will help, as time passes you will get to know your specific models ins and outs, and good food is on its way.

Grills with early digital elite controllers can go up to P-9.
Factory P-Setting on Scouts is P-4
