Shutdown confusing on Tailgater 20

I have searched high and low on google and YouTube and have yet to find a satisfactory answer.

I set up my new Tailgater (with buttons) today. After the initial firing I go to shutdown. Instructions say to press and hold center button 3 seconds. Display will flash OFF, then scroll “COOL Dn,” followed by actual temperature until grill cools down to safe temperature.

So I push and hold for 3 seconds. Display flashes OFF then goes to a flashing 450. It never reads COOL Dn. Husband read the instructions to mean that I need to scroll down to a lower temperature. So that’s what I did. And after a while, it seems to have shutdown.

How do I know it’s actually entered the shut down? Do I just wait and hope for the best before turning off?

Sorry, I wish I could help you, but I do not have a tailgater 20. Perhaps someone with a Tailgator 20 will chime in, but I think the lack of answers is based on who has one.

I recommend Facebook Messanger to Traeger for your question. They are pretty good at getting back quickly in my experience.

Thanks so much for responding. We figured out the control panel on the tailgater is the same as the ranger and could find info addressing the issue. Problem solved.
