I accidentally bumped off the ceramic insulator on the internal thermocouple and it fell somewhere inaccessible inside the barrel and now the temp wires are exposed.

1) Does it matter and/or will it impact temperature readings?
2) If yes, can I replace the ceramic insulator or do I have to replace the entire assembly?

It probably will impact temp. And call Traeger and get the assembly warrantied.

I think it would probably work but will fail sooner as the temp sense is the junction where the two dissimilar wires are bonded at the tip. The ceramic protects them from corrosion etc.

Do get a new one.
