Help! Rope/Cord Holding in Panel

I have a Bronson 20. I bought a new RTD Temp Sensor Probe to replace my old one (grimy). Following the instructions, I unscrewed the panel, but there is a rope/cord that is preventing the panel from being pulled out. Any suggestions on how I can get the panel out? Pics included.
